i heard you had a voice like an angel/psalm 137

Thursday, August 26th, 2010

Here is another song by Shad K. This one is my personal favorite. I have listened to this on repeat for hours while I work somedays. Lyrics are below the player. I highlighted the most powerful part of the song in red. Enjoy.

I heard you had a voice like an angel
I heard a strange tale
About a saint that fell
Music became jail
These bars I hear you rapped/wrapped in em
Wove in the beats
Like the clothing of sheep
Wolves tracks – spin em
Dj’s, cd’s, c-notes, g’s thrown on d’s
we’ll be king like T. I hope
I heard you even sang when you spoke
And the emotion you evoked got you choked
When your beauty struck a vocal chord broke
Boatless dove overboard
Looked upon the ocean
Caught your reflection before the Lord’s
I heard you had a voice like an angel
Strange though, you were blinded by the light
shining from your own halo
fell off sort like a rainbow when heaven watched
your faint glow fade slow
I heard you had a voice like an angel…I heard that fame’s a killer that can murder great princes
like Kurt Cobain singing Purple Rain from a distance
Hope home ain’t a virtual game
Nor this cursed place Earth
Where the dollars and the karma don’t circulate
The world’s a stage and you know this play well
Gee I bet you even know how it ends, pray tell
Had a voice like an angel, now you score the drama scenes
The comedy’s the fact
We enact what you want to be
Had some old songs still stuck in your memory
Distorted though
So you sort of re-assembled melodies
And fine-tune and turned em into single after single
In this industry you built so sinfully simple for
You to write cuz, a song is what your life was
The destiny of stars is their light must fight dusk
With sparks of brilliance to ignite us
And of all the billions of stars
You were by far the brightest
I heard you had a voice like an angel
Now its just a light hush…

Now you keep everybody’s eyes on charts and schedules
And the trends try to stack gold bars and medals
They want vessels void and dark as space
Fools wanna make stars instead of music that’s smart or special
Because art at a level that’s real can be harder to peddle
Business prefers a market that settles for 2nd rate
Kill the true artists martyr the rebels
That’s the system and its straight from the heart of the devil
See merchants of dreams sold to souls eyes-wide shut
Passin the buck to purchase a pass to buy stuff
Workin in this circus get hired up
To walk over have-(k)nots on a tight rope
Tied-up in my gut
It’s a delicate balance
Developin talent into persons that we worship
To it’s a hell of a challenge
I heard you had a voice like an angel
But don’t really sing no more
But you still running the game so
If we don’t behave like them
They call us crazy
And if we wont slave for them
They call us lazy
Lately
I’ve started to see why you hate me
Hearin this voice it must be painful
To the ears when for years
You had a voice like an angel

If you don’t behave as them
They call you crazy
And if you wont slave for them
They call you lazy
Well I say…
They wanna take your mind
Turn it into a prison
And lock you inside
Then they call that livin
Well I say…
(x2)

Smile for the camera
Smile for the camera
While they take your children
Smile for the camera
While we rape your women
Smile for the camera
While we make our millions
Smile for the camera
While they make their billions
Smile for the camera
Smile for the camera
Smile for the camera…

If that song doesn’t move you on some level check yourself for a pulse. What is the Psalm 137 portion of the title? I’m glad you asked. It is one of the Psalms from the Bible. It’s not exactly an uplifting and light hearted piece of scripture but it has some paralells to what Shad is trying to convy in this song.

As for the verse I highlighted in red… it jus screams to me as some good truth of what the music industry is today. I know there is good music out there but why is it invisible in the mainstream media? MuchMusic, MuchMoreMusic, MTV (who doesn’t even play music anymore, just garbage TV) is just bogged down with empty music and trashy videos. Maybe I am just getting older but still. I remember what I was raised on with MuchMusic and that is tame by today’s standard. What is the motive behind all of it? Things are taking the path they are for a reason. We need more music that is smart and special. Look for a post in the future titled “Basic Economics – The Supply and Demand of Bad”.

the mystery of money – a story about $500

Thursday, August 26th, 2010
Follow the money, where it comes from and where it returns, there you will find who runs the show.

Follow the money, where it comes from and where it returns to, there you will find who runs the show.

I received the story below in an email months ago and I am going to attempt to recall it as best as I can from memory. The original story used $100 for it’s narrative but I think upping the ante makes the story a little more impactful.

There is tourist city that is suffering an economic downturn. Businesses are struggling and the future looks bleak for many business owners in the city. A rich man comes to town on some business and goes to the best hotel in the city. He talks to the hotel owner behind the main desk and asks if there are any rooms available. The owner says we are currently empty, you can pick from any room you want in the hotel. So the business man says I am going to leave $500 on the counter and go look at some of the rooms and see if there is anything I like. The owner agrees and gives the man the keys to five different rooms for him to look at. The business man takes the keys and heads up the elevator.

The moment the elevator doors closed the hotel owner took the $500 off the counter and ran to a bakery next door. The hotel owner owed the bakery $500 for food that was served to guests from a cafe in the main lobby. The baker then took the $500 and ran to a local grocery store where they owed for food that was used in the things that the bakery makes and sells. The grocer took the $500 and ran to a farmer that was owed for eggs and produce that the the grocery store sells. The farmer took the $500 and ran to a supply store where he owed money for fuel and fertilizer used on his farm. The supply store owner took the $500 to a plumber who had fixed some leaks in his store. The plumber took the $500 and ran to the hotel where the story began because he owed the owner for a couple nights he stayed there after he lost his home. The owner took the $500 and put it back on the counter just as the business man walked out of the elevator. The business man who didn’t find any rooms that were satisfactory took his money and left… however a few of the towns people were now not facing debt amongst each other and felt a little better about their future.

You know the first time I read this story I was both a little amused and dumbfounded. But as I thought about it more and more the story start to concern me. It is obvious that this is a fictional story but it makes a good illustration. I don’t think it is completely unrealistic to believe that money moves this way through society and can have this kind of impact. However that sad reality is that most people are all in debt to one entity… banks. Banks issue currency to people or governments seeking loans so all of us ending up owing money to the same location in the end, that is unless we borrow from each other. It’s kind of fun and interesting to think that if there we’re 100 people all owing someone else in the 100 people $1, that the collective debt of the group would be $100, but it would only take $1 passed from person to person to eliminate the debt of the entire group. Does that make your head spin?

Debt is messy business and can greatly ruin the quality of life. All that is required of the lender is to hand you the money or credit and then you are essentially owned by that transaction until it is paid back. Here are a couple of quotes I have posted in the past but I think they are absolutely epic in nature. Hold onto these and share them with friends.

This is a staggering thought. We are completely dependent on the commercial banks. Someone has to borrow every dollar we have in circulation, cash, or credit. If the banks create ample synthetic money, we are prosperous; if not, we starve. We are absolutely without a permanent money system. When one gets a complete grasp of the picture, the tragic absurdity of our hopeless position is almost incredible, but there it is. It is the most important subject intelligent persons can investigate and reflect upon. It is so important that our present civilization may collapse unless it becomes widely understood and the defect remedied very soon.
Robert H. Hemphill, Credit Manager of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta Georgia

Money is a new form of slavery, and distinguishable from the old simply by the fact that it is impersonal, there is no human relation between master and slave.
Leo Tolstoy

The rich rules over the poor and the borrower is the slave of the lender.
Proverbs 22:7

Will your debtors not suddenly arise and those awake who make you tremble? Then you will be spoil for them.
Habakkuk 2:7

Here is a link to the first post I ever added to this site. It is a documentary titled Money as Debt. It is absolutely riveting. If you take anything out of the video take this; there is a money pool that exists in the world. The money that exists is made of money/credit that has been loaned out from banks. However the bank only lends out the principle amount of loans and expects principle plus interest back. This means that there is not enough money for everyone to get their hands on to pay back their debts. Which means the failure of loan repayment is a guaranteed occurrence built right into our money system. When I learned that I wanted to throw up. Does this not scream to as truth given the astronomical amounts of debt in the world and the difficulty in obtaining money to pay off your loans? It’s why nations and people continue to get in deeper and deeper.

smoke and fire

smoke is merely the indication of a larger problem

Smoke is merely the indication of a larger problem.

Have you ever heard the saying “where there is smoke there is fire”? Have you ever considered what that saying even means? Allow me to explain.  The saying basically means that if you see things that are suggestive of something else happening then the something else is likely already occurring. The saying means that smoke is a warning sign of a larger problem. If that seems a little obscure consider this example. Maybe an employer has noticed that the cash till has been short a couple times over the last month. The cash shortage is the smoke of the larger problem/fire that one of his employees is stealing from him or her.

Everywhere I look in the world all I see is smoke. For me what is more concerning than the smoke that I see is everyone’s indifference to the smoke. So many people are choking and gagging on it all their lives but they don’t even realize it. The entire world is so overwhelmed by smoke that an astronomical majority of us are blinded by it and because it’s all we’ve ever seen we don’t even know we’re blind… and the few times we do notice it we usually choose to ignore it.

So what is the smoke you might be wondering? Smoke is people starving all over the world. Smoke is families being broken apart. Smoke is wars being fought in many countries. Smoke is people losing their jobs and struggling financially. Smoke is someone having more money than they know what to do with. Smoke is drunkenness, fighting and promiscuity in bars on the weekend. Smoke is diseases and sickness. Smoke is the destruction of our planet. Smoke is people not having a place to sleep at night. Smoke is people being violent with each other. Smoke is our jails being filled to capacity. Smoke is someone being lonely. Smoke is unkind words spoken to someone. Smoke is two people in traffic at rush hour succumbing to road rage. Smoke is a kid in trouble because they didn’t listen to their parents. Smoke is a kid in trouble because their parents aren’t engaged in their life. Smoke is someone turning to a life of drugs. Smoke is a married person sleeping with someone who is not their spouse. Smoke is gossip or spreading rumours about someone… smoke is everything that is ugly in our lives and on our planet that diminishes our happiness and quality of life. Smoke is ugly, unnatural and terrible for us. So why do we live in it and pretend like it’s not there?

However, like I stated above smoke is only a sign of the source of the real problem. There is a fire raging in our world that can’t be put out. So what is the fire then? Idolatry, cursing, hatred, adultery, disrespect, lying, jealousy, bitterness, apathy, greed, violence, promiscuity, drunkenness, gossip, murder, fighting… fire is honestly best summed up as sin. Uh-oh, I used “the s-word”. Sin is a word that makes a lot of people uncomfortable I know, but keep reading, this will end well. What does fire do? It destroys and burns down and consumes. What does sin do? It destroys and burns down and consumes our lives.

The words of the wise heard in quiet are better than the shouting of a ruler among fools. Wisdom is better than weapons of war, but one sinner destroys much good. Ecclesiastes 9:17-18

There is a fire burning. I doubt anyone that reads this can honestly say that they are guiltless of all the above mentioned transgressions. That is why God in His mercy and love has sent us a fire extinguisher. If this post is about anything it is mostly about putting out the fire. All of Christ’s teachings if applied in all of our individual lives would kill the fire. But because people are prideful and stubborn and want to go their own way it will never happen. That is why God sent Christ. He showed us how life is supposed to be done and those of us that chose that path will be spared from an eternity of fire.

I am hoping this isn’t coming across as total nonsense. The basic premise is that God wants nothing but good things for all of us. We have chosen and made the world this way. Even if you think you haven’t contributed to the problems it’s the indifference of millions and millions of people that allow things to keep going the way they are. Many people live defeated thinking they can’t make a difference and that someone else needs to do something. Well I have news for you who is reading this right now. To every one on the planet YOU are a someone else.

So take a hold of Christ who is the fire extinguisher and start learning what he taught and start putting out fires in your life. It’s really easy, love God with all your being and love your neighbour as yourself. That means love everyone who is not you as if they were you. For example when someone is hungry and asks you for help, don’t ignore the, when you’re hungry you make sure you eat… so if a hungry person needs your help, feed them! That is one basic example. Another could be stop racing in traffic and let people in. If you can’t make a turn you appreciate the courtesy of someone waving you in. Just work to be others focused. Aside from those basic commands follows a myriad of others which if obeyed would see all other issues disappear but at the heart of all of them is love others. I will give examples if asked in the comments section.

My point here is to grab a hold of Christ and put out the fires in your life and in the lives of others… when you start doing this the smoke will go away too. It is in this kind of living that the promise of God is rooted. I have a tattoo on my left shoulder that contains three verses of scripture which all pertain to perseverance. One of them is;

Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him. James 1:12

Life is a test that needs to be endured but God does not expect you to do it alone. Christ is there, He cares about you and wants you to live well and ultimately for you to find your permanent home in Heaven. This life is just the “coming attractions” portion before the main event. What I will share to sum this up is my personal revelation that made Christ real to me. When I learned what Christ was about and what he taught I realized the following;

Everything in my life that has caused me pain, suffering or anguish in anyway was the result of something that I had done that was contrary to what Christ taught or was the result of someone else doing something that affected me that was contrary to what Christ taught.

God’s will is perfect and the truth is found in it. It’s up to us to live by it. The best gift we have from God is free will. Otherwise we’d just be a bunch of wind-up robots here for his amusement. The relationship He desires to have with us is so much larger and more beautiful than something like that. It’s up to you. Put out the fires you can, get rid of the smoke and I’m confident you will see that.

multiple sclerosis and vaccines – my story

Thursday, August 19th, 2010

Anyone who knows me well knows that back in 2003 I became ill and started down a path that led doctors and medical experts to determine that I had Multiple Sclerosis or MS. I use had for a reason. Since late 2003 when all my symptoms left my body I have been without symptoms for going on 7 years. I am thankful for that but have always wondered in the back of my mind if someday it would come back. After all, multiple sclerosis has that name because it happen multiple times. Then last winter I had a revelation at the onset of the flu season.

It’s not so long ago that anyone has forgot that before last winter we could not tune into the news and not hear about the swine flu. With all that hype a video surfaced on the internet about a previous swine flu scare in 1976. I watched this video as I recommend you should too. My story will pick up on the other side of the video players.

Once I heard of this woman’s account of Guillain-Barré syndrome I made a connection. Her symptoms while more sever than mine we’re incredibly similar.

I remember it was in late February or early March of 2003 I was at my desk at work on a Thursday afternoon when my feet started to feel numb, like they had the circulation slightly cut off. I took of my shoes and rubbed my feet, I got up and walked around but couldn’t shake the sensation. I went to bed that night sure it would be gone in the morning. I woke up the next day and it was worse. It had even spread its way up into my calf’s. By the time I got to work on the Friday the tingling sensation was up into my thighs. I dealt with it for the Friday and over the weekend but by the time Monday rolled around it was becoming clear it was not going to go away. I left work that Monday morning to go to a clinic and by the time I was through the clinic and to the hospital I felt numbness from my chest down. To make a long story short I underwent a number of tests over the weeks and months to come, which included a spinal tap and an MRI, I was eventually told that I likely have MS. At the height of it all I was partially numb from the chest down to such a degree that I could not feel water hitting my body in the shower. I even had very slight loss of mobility in my hands and fingers.

The revelation I had after seeing this video was that the winter of 2002/2003 was the last time I had a seasonal flu shot. Now I am not a doctor and can not give myself a 100% accurate diagnosis I feel pretty confident that I do not have MS given the research that I have done. I feel even more secure in that given that I am in my 7th year of being symptom free. As a side note I am yet to have the flu in the last seven years as well.

While most of my symptoms were MS like in nature I have done some reading on GBS and learned it fits the bill perfectly too. I have spent a good deal of time wondering why that was not even presented to me as an option while I was going through my tests. I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that GBS is linked to the bodies response to foreign antigens in the body. Wikipedia states that one study suggests that some cases are triggered by the influenza virus, or by an immune reaction to the influenza virus. Considering that the flu shot is given with live influenza in the vaccine I give that possibility a lot of credit. Did I have an episode of GBS? I have not had the opinion of a medical doctor on that front but to me, it seems highly probable.

Not being a doctor I want to be clear, don’t take my advice as gospel. You need to educate yourself and make your own decisions based on good information (which is hard to come by). Last seasons Swine Flu scare came and went with minor incident. Did some people die? Yes. But the death toll cause by Swine Flu (H1N1) still trailed the typical seasonal flu by a large margin. I pulled the following from WikiAnswers:

3 March 2010 — As of 12 February 2010, According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), it is estimated* that since the beginning of the pandemic, the US has had approximately 57 million cases of A-H1N1/09 Pandemic Swine Flu and approximately 11,690 resulting deaths. Based upon this, an estimate of the mortality rate in the US from the pandemic is 0.02%.
In comparison, the CDC and World Health Organization (WHO) have estimated that with seasonal flu, “we see over 30 million cases in the United States. We see 200,000 hospitalizations and, on average, 36,000 deaths.” (During the entire fall and winter flu season.) Based upon this, the average mortality rate of seasonal flu in the US would be 0.12%

Based on those numbers the regular flu claimed the lives of over three times as many people as H1N1 but there wasn’t any major news coverage or panic around those figures. I think it is worth mentioning too that many victims of the flu don’t die by the flu alone. It is usually the flu in combination with some other complicating health factors primarily when the flu and some sort of viral infection occur at the same time.

The vaccine subject can be a very touchy one. Some people are for it and think its a great medical achievement. Others think that they aren’t great and we don’t yet fully understand the long term effects that vaccines will take on people. I say get out there and do some research. I for one put a lot of weight on the first hand accounts of people. I think that we need to get the TV and medical establishment out of the way and start hearing the stories of individuals that have had good and bad experiences through vaccines and weigh the positives and negatives before rolling up our sleeves at the recommendations of the government and TV. For me I can’t shake this feeling that the higher ups are just a little to eager to have us lining up for our annual “safety shots”. Again, I want you to think for yourself and start doing your homework. The new flu season is only a couple months away so get on this now before we are in the heat of the moment with the TV screaming doom at us. It’s your life and your body. I myself am unlikely to ever accept another vaccine, but only the circumstances will tell for sure.

positive and negative

Sunday, August 15th, 2010

I want to do a quick post just to clarify something about this blog. This blog is not intended to come off as negative or scare/frighten people. This blog is about what the world is and what the world could be. What the world is today in my view is very broken. We do our best to put a good spin on things but when we take a hard look under the shiny veneer we put on everything we can see that this world is a tough place. I want people to look at the harsh realities so collectively as a group we can do a better job at taking care of each other and the planet. Part of this process is learning about things we would rather not know about. I for one am not going to prescribe myself to the philosophy of H.L. Mencken.

It is the nature of the human species to reject what is true but unpleasant and to embrace what is obviously false but comforting.

So please look at this site as a positive opportunity to get educated and get a new perspective. You are never going to learn anything from the T.V., movies or video games that will help change the course we are all currently on. Jesus Christ left us with the job of loving God and loving our neighbours as ourselves. All I am seeking to do is contrast the teachings of Christ and the Bible with the current conditions and circumstances we face to demonstrate the truth that is found in the Bible. So for this to be accomplished I have to dabble in both the positive and negative.

Here is another great song from Shad K. Lyrics found below the player.

Though I sympathize with em
And empathize with em
I don’t synchronize with em
Or enterprise with em
We don’t fratenize with em
We’re not allies with em
We don’t strategize with em
Let em patronize
We don’t want no ties with em
Wont monopolize with em
Let em ostracize
We don’t compromise with em
We wont victimize with em
Commit genocide with em
Spit their lies with em
Or objectify women with em
Socialize with em
Broke my ties with em
Now we open-eyed in this over-hyped system
We know…

Chorus:
This wisdom of man
Is foolishness to God
Don’t build on the sand
Or trust in the odds
Be shrewd as the snakes
And innocent as doves
Don’t succumb to hate
Overcome hate with love
(x2)

We’re taught not to question the status
quo cuz the masses never get heard
that’s unless your established
with expert professors in dress-shirts
and glasses that lecture to classes
from lecterns where next term the best third will pass an’
earn cash working as dresk clerks for the best firms in manhattan
where the pressure can crack em
cuz networks and net worth and class
get treasured over pleasures that last
always measuring stacks of passion for lesser
God’s growing seeds of distraction is clever
but trust

(chorus)

Though I sympathize with em
And empathize with em
I don’t synchronize with em
Or enterprise with em
We don’t fratenize with em
We’re not allies with em
We don’t strategize with em
Let em patronize
We don’t want no ties with em
Wont monopolize with em
Let em ostracize
We don’t
compromise with em
We wont victimize with em
Commit genocide with em
Spit their lies with em

the internet and problem, reaction, solution

Sunday, August 15th, 2010

I saw this post not too long ago on another site I frequent.

False Flag Cyber Attack Could Takedown The Internet

In short the post discusses the governments growing concern over the internet and security issues found within. There are claims that the internet has left North America vulnerable to cyber terroism that could mess with our power/electrical systems, trains, water systems and other key infrastructure. However while many of these systems are networked they are not directly connected to the public internet. The bigger and unmentioned concern here is alternative news/opinion sites like mine and many others that are bringing peoples attention to the offside behaviour of those running the show. I will leave it to you to read the link above and watch the videos there-in so I can move onto my main point, problem, reaction solution.

A short summary of problem, reaction, solution is found in the below video…

Now that video uses clips of 9/11 through out to make its point which to me holds together with this topic of the internet and the post I provided from the Web of Evidence site when this quote is pulled from it;

Lessig told attendees of a high profile Tech conference that “There’s going to be an i-9/11 event” which will act as a catalyst for a radical reworking of the law pertaining to the internet.

What needs to be understood about the internet more than anyting is the freedom it provides. A person like myself is allowed to speak my mind, share my faith and call attention to sketchy behaviour where I see it. There are tons of sites that talk about government,  politics, war, money and business offering solid information that contradicts the mainstream news media which is owned and opperated by the very rich and often same people that are in government and big business and exercise change in public policy that want our opinions controlled. They are not interested in allowing a forum of free speech as large as the internet to stand. So here enters problem, reaction, solution.

Problem - The internet is not secure and provides too many dangerous opportunities for people to exploit.
Reaction - Scare the public to get the “something must be done” reaction.
Solution - Offer a solution which is the very thing that is desired but would be resisted without scaring the public.

The thing to take away from all of this is that as of right now people have a large means of free speech on the internet. Is there some things that should change about the internet? Of course there are. But the kind of changes discussed in the article provided will squash what is probably the last large public forum of free speech in the world. Many sites like mine would be lost in the shuffle. As a quick fact in many places in the U.S. you need a permit to protest or picket and if what you are wanting to protest is considered too contraversial or disturbing to the peace you are denied permission. Only time will tell what is going to happen.

When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty. Thomas Jefferson

Start to pay attention to the news and listen to what is talked about today and then what happens in the months to come. You can start to see the theory of problem-reaction-solution play itself out.

confessions of an economic hitman

Sunday, August 15th, 2010

This interview blew my mind. The one sentence synopsis of this interview would be… John Perkins tells the story of his life/job as an individual that would convince governments to take loans they couldn’t possibly repay so the debt could be used as leverage for other means at a later time. Is it true or untrue? My measuring stick for something like this is the very fact that nearly all governments world wide are in great debt to banks for dizzying amounts of money. Either way, this is a great listen.
