so what is the big deal about 2012?

Thursday, November 25th, 2010

There is a good chance at some point you have heard about the Mayan civilization. There is an even better chance that you have heard about them because of there now famous long count calendar that ends on the winter solstice, or December 21st, 2012. Now somehow, because this has been figured out, this “truth” has been equated to the world ending while others are holding their breath for a new spiritual shift or age of enlightenment.

Truth be told I first heard about the 2012 theory, about 6 years ago now, it somewhat frightened me. Prophesy has always been something that fascinates me. However as I have grown in my faith my fascination has changed from something that was rooted in fear to something that is rooted in strength.

To know that God has everything under control, even when chaos seems to rule the day, is the most encouraging and comforting knowledge anyone can have. I encourage you to watch the series below. The narrator covers some thoughts he has on the 2012 front that I have had myself with some small differences.

zeitgeist refuted

Thursday, November 11th, 2010

I have brought up the film Zeitgeist numerous times since the inception of this blog. I have done so because of the great impact of that documentary on so many people. It has shaken the faith of many Christians and put off many people from even considering it as truth. I came across this documentary, Zeitgeist Refuted, on youtube this week and it is great. If you have watched Zeitgeist and took it at its word you need to watch this film and give what is presented here equal oppertunity to grow in your mind and heart.

Click the link below for the remaining parts of the documentary.

I am second is the one of the most inspirational and up lifting sites I have ever crossed paths with. Whatever your stance on faith is I bet you can’t watch three of the videos without being moved or getting a little choked up. This link is being added to the list of sites in the nav to the left. I have linked three of my favorite vids below to get you started. Please visit the site, it is amazing.

twenty minutes you can’t pass on…

Tuesday, September 28th, 2010

Last week I came across for the first time a new version on the Zeitgeist documentary. This one is titled Zeitgeist Addendum. It is riveting. If you can give this documentary twenty minutes of your time I guarantee you will end up watching the entire thing.

There are some glaring differences between these two which to me are very important. This edition paints a picture of hope at the end where as the previous painted a picture of doom. One major similarity is the films stance against religion. This one however made a point of mentioning all the major religions this time around. In the first version it only attacked Christianity, which to me still sticks out in my mind as the true motive of the film.

As said before in reaction to the first Zeitgeist I believe that this film has a dark purpose. I believe that the film is a mix of truth and non-truth. It plays on very emotional subjects to stir reactions of passion and anger. But what many viewers of this film will not know is that the very teachings of Christ will undo the entire “system” that the film repeatedly speaks about.

nothing created everything

Friday, September 24th, 2010

So a couple weekends ago I was talking with my parents and they were telling me they had seen an interview between Larry King and Stephen Hawking. I found the clip on youtube.

If there is anything that people of faith in God or faith in science would both have to concede it would be that all of us lack the ability to understand everything, particularly the origin of the universe. We just don’t have the mental capacity to process how we exist. Science would have us believe that the universe sprang into being spontaneously while the Christian faith would have us believe that God created everything. Now what the opposite sides struggle with is “well then who created God?” and “well how did everything just all of the sudden exist?”

Being in the faith camp I personally find it utterly absurd to believe that everything was created out of nothing. To my mind it is far more plausible that God is the creator of everything and I honestly don’t worry about the who created God portion of the equation because he is God who is without beginning or end. Below is a transcript of the interview which I will input some of my own thoughts.

confessions of an economic hitman

Sunday, August 15th, 2010

This interview blew my mind. The one sentence synopsis of this interview would be… John Perkins tells the story of his life/job as an individual that would convince governments to take loans they couldn’t possibly repay so the debt could be used as leverage for other means at a later time. Is it true or untrue? My measuring stick for something like this is the very fact that nearly all governments world wide are in great debt to banks for dizzying amounts of money. Either way, this is a great listen.

to hell and back – a video series

Wednesday, August 4th, 2010

This is a video series in which a few people share testimonies of their near death experiences. What is uncommon about these stories is that they all claim to have been to hell or had hell like experiences before coming back to life. What seems like grim stories end with happiness and reformed people that have experienced something that brought about positive changes in their lives. The narrator/host of the video isn’t all that good and the last story didn’t seem to fit with the others in my opinion but never-the-less I hope you catch the common thread through all these, that both Heaven and Hell are real and what we are doing with our time now counts towards our ultimate destiny. If you’re like one of the people from the street interview portion you need to consider where your ideas are coming from and what they are based on. None of us have the authority or control to make up our own destination after death… that is completely up to Christ and God as the people in the videos below found out.

new world order?

Sunday, July 25th, 2010

What’s the New World Order you ask? Well that’s what I would like to know too. If you spend any kind of time paying attention to the news I would bet that you can’t go more than two weeks without coming across that term on TV, in the paper or on the web. The term is equivalent to One World Government. Politicians have advocated it, bankers and economists are for it. Even the Pope has backed the idea. So what is it? The video below is a documentary that summarizes it pretty well. Is all of it true? I am not sure, but I continue to keep my finger on the pulse of what this represents. Fiction or not one thing remains… many prominent figures are speaking openly about it… so the new world order is something. What exactly remains to be seen. It seems to me that it will affect all of us at some time or another, so everyone needs to pay attention to how rapidly things are changing.

Pay attention to the video at 1:50:16 – 1:51:11… to me the entire thing hangs on that minute of video. Again, like in Zeitgeist, the Christian faith appears to be the only one targeted. I hope thats enough to get some conversation going in the comments section. I have a lot more to say on this topic in the future.
